A pervert who raped a young child will remain behind bars after his appeal to shorten the prison sentence failed.
The elderly man was jailed last year for sexual assault towards a 13-year-old girl who then had his baby, WA Today reported.
Between 1998 and 2000, the now 86-year-old man paid the young girl for sex on a ‘number of occasions’.
A DNA test proved the child the young teenager gave birth in 2000 to was the elderly man’s, according to the publication.
The child rapist was jailed in February 2017 and sentenced to four years and six months prison.
The 86-year-old appealed to have his sentence shortened but the WA Supreme Court Judge Linda Petrusa denied the request.
The court heard the man’s crimes were ‘so serious that it would be inappropriate to interfere with the total effective sentence imposed’.
The 86-year-old previously told police he believed the young girl was older.
The man will be 90-years-old when released from prison if he serves the full sentence.
