A prisoner who took powerful medication to control his ‘hypersexual’ libido was visited by his on-again, off-again girlfriend after she broke into an open security section of Holtze Prison for an overnight stay.
The woman consorted with the serious sex offender during the unauthorised visit, the NT News reported.
The man, who cannot be named, was locked up in 2016 after breaching strict supervision orders by viewing porn on a contraband mobile phone, drinking beer and smoking marijuana.
He was living in open security cottages on the perimeter at the Holtze Prison complex, however is now back behind bars following the breach.
His criminal history includes rape, exposing children to indecent material and offences of aggravated indecent assault.
Sworn court records indicate a corrections official saw the inmate and his girlfriend walking away from an open security section of Holtze Prison in late January despite there being a ban on the pair seeing one another.
‘(The man) confirmed (his girlfriend) spent the night in the Cottages with him and that he and (the woman) departed the Cottages some time before 0800 hours …’ the statement says.
On Friday the man’s lawyer admitted his client had violated his supervision conditions.
It is understood the man had earlier run into his girlfriend after riding his bike in the area in search of her at the Palmerston bus interchange.
Barrister Tom Anderson, for the Attorney-General, said: ‘There seemed to be concerns that it was not in his interest to consort with her’.
He hinted concerns were raised he may have tried to ‘abscond’ with the woman.
The man will now be kept in custody under the Serious Sex Offenders Act until he returns to court in April and a fresh psychiatric evaluation is taken, Chief Justice Grant ordered.
